Welcome to Paul Hashagen's author website
Paul Hashagen has been fighting fires since 1976. In 2003 he retired from the FDNY after twenty-five years of service, with twenty of those years in Rescue Company 1. He is a former chief of the Freeport Fire Department and is still an active member of Truck Company 1. Paul, a contributing editor at Firehouse Magazine,  writes the monthly historical column "Rekindles" as well a feature articles. Paul has written several books and numerous stories on the history of the fire service. He has also written articles for WNYF, the official magazine of the FDNY, the New York City Fire Museum's newsletter: The Housewatch.
